Meter

Meter is a pattern of stress and unstressed syllables.

EXAMPLE

Daily, daily, / sing to Mary
  v /     v /        v    /   v /

- v = Stressed
- /  = Unstressed

Significant - Meter makes the poem sounds like a song.
